My Story

Shannon 2015

I came to know Christ through my parents. Their commitment to Christ was evident in and out of our house. At 8 years old, upon conviction of my sin, I knew the way to be saved. I said my very first, “Yes!” Yes, I do believe Jesus is Lord and that He died and rose again. I wanted Jesus to be in my life and I trusted Him to do what His Word says in Romans 10:9. He changed my life that day and I haven’t looked back since.

At a youth camp, later on in life, I was given a word from a complete stranger. Choose this day. Do you want to be used by Him or continue to follow your own way in life?  If you give Him your all, He will use you the rest of your life to reveal Himself to people. Tough statement to a 12 year old,  but I bowed beside my bed that night after leading a girl to the Lord and gave my life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I wanted to be used by Him for the rest of my life. It was my second big “Yes!”

The calling:

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us. Since I was 6 years old everything I love tends to tell the story of an orphan. As I look back on my life, my surrender to Jesus Christ has lead me to a life long love of the orphan. Everyone yearns for a family and in Christ we are no longer orphans. After college I was a teacher, staff member at a local church for 10 years and had many successful endeavors with the Lord. My heart was prepared to say Yes to the vision He gave me in 2015. After becoming debt free and working on my health, I was anticipating what God would have me do next. Completely taken off guard I was by the detailed vision He gave me to minister to orphans around the world. The journey of the past two years has taught me many things. My love of my Savior has grown in such a way I cannot describe. In ways I did not believe my heart could be broken, it broke, as I saw the things that break God’s heart. My vision comes directly from three passages of Scripture: James 1:27, Jeremiah 1:5-9, and Matthew 28. I am called by God to visit the orphans, take care of the widows and not be polluted by the world. I was created in my mother’s womb for such a time as this to go to all nations telling the good news of Jesus Christ, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and making disciples. I long to encourage the fellow workers all over the world with a friendly face, prayer partner and friend. Matthew 28:19-20 “ Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” God whispered “Shannon, go” and I said my biggest YES of all!

another picWhere?

Psalms 2:8 says “Ask and I’ll give the nations to you.” I will go wherever He leads.

My answer will always be Yes.
